Cat Toys for Free

The best cat toys are often very cheap or free ...

It's pretty simple.

We all love our cats and want them to have best things. That includes cat toys. However, while buying cat toys has the advantage of having been tested against a large sample of cats for usability and safety, individual cats act differently toward different cat toys. So to select a really good cat toy, you might have to go through twenty of them before finding one that makes kitty really happy.

How many times have you bought or received a cat toy only to have your favorite friend completely ignore it no matter how enticing the toy looked? While a toy may seem aesthetically pleasing and "catty" to us, the important thing to remember is that while we love our cats and want to have the best things, including cat toys, they are more focused on movement than looks. A cat will just as surely chase your hand if you wave it in front of him as a ten dollar cat toy. Why is this?

When people say cat's eyes are good they are often referring to their ability to see in the dark. In fact, while the cat has extra good vision in low light, as far as discerning shapes are concerned their world looks almost like it would to a nearsighted person. Cats are, however, highly attuned to CHANGES in shapes as well as noises and this is what gets them excited and triggers their predator instincts. So a cat isn't going to be able to tell the difference between the shape of an expensive cat toy ball and a paper ball cat toy. This is where free cat toy testing comes in!

It may be a little embarassing when friends come over and see your cat playing with homemade cat toys. But in any case, if you find one of these free cat toys archetypes that your cat really likes you can go out and try and buy the equivalent expensive cat toy. Do the beta testing with some free cat toys and then spring for something you know your feline friend will like!
