Fishing Cat Toys
This cat toy goes great in combination with the string cat toy. Most likely, someone in the family has an old rod laying around so why not make some use of it as part of a cat toy?
What you use doesn't have to be new by any stretch of imagination, and often it's good to use a really old one for the cat toy as long as it's not already broken. In addition, if you don't have one handy, a yardstick will do fine to make your cat toy. Simply tie your string cat toy to the ending guide or the hole in the yardstick and you've got an excellent way to try and catch your cat! What is great about this cat toy is that the way is made to respond to the slightest vibration and thus is extremely sensitive, allowing you to move your string cat toy very deftly. And as we know, cats like cat toys that creep and crawl around.
Try "casting" the toy and letting the string trickle to the ground. When the cat tries to pounce on the end of the string cat toy pull it away quickly. It helps to have a knot on the end as previously stated so the string has some tension. You may find your arm getting tired after throwing this cat toy around for awhile, but it often beats running around the house with the string cat toy! When you get tired, try just holding the end of the cat toy so the string part is about halfway up the side of a doorframe. If your cat is athletic, he may actually jump in the air to try and get at his cat toy string!
Warning: avoid poking at the cat with the end of this cat toy as you don't want to poke him in the eye. Also, avoid "whipping" the cat toy string back and forth on the cat's head as that will definitely scare the cat and make him associate bad things with the cat toy.
