Archived: Shmat's Features
The Shmat has decided to discontinue the Features section for Shmat Records. That is to say, there will be no NEW interviews or features. If you are a band that was featured here earlier, rest assured that your feature will be archived here for eternity (or somewhere near that).
Like Shmat's Reviews, any future Interviews and Features will appear on the Palebear site.
Please note that the Shmat and his Peoples take no responsibility for typos, inaccuracies or misinterpretations contained within these articles.

Snoozer will steal your heart faster than you can say "boygirlparty" 5 times fast. Really. The Shmat had gotten a chance previously to listen to the excellent Winter Stops All Sound EP and just had to find out more about Susie Ghahremani, the one woman Rhode Island force behind Snoozer. As long as there are bands putting out songs like this, indiepop will certainly thrive. She writes infectious sweet and sour pop ditties infused with the warmth of fun little keyboards lines... and just how many keyboards does Susie have? You could possibly find out by reading on, nice and happy little reader. The Shmat chatted with Susie over email recently about such things as stuffed animals, illustration, and UFOs...

All right, icebreaker time: What's your sign?
Susie: Gemini, year of the monkey!
Lucky... I'm year of the rat. It's definitely not as glamorous or noble as the other signs... like we carry bubonic plague, and sneak around at night. But anyway... do you like monkeys? I keep thinking of Paul Frank's "Julius and Friends" monkey...
Susie: Haha, your year is filthy. Monkeys are cool, but they also kind of look scarily human - like in the same way that toes look like weird fingers. Maybe i'll convert zodiac signs! I'd like to be the very first member of the year of the koala. Are you in?
Like flynn, hehe. All right... so where did the name "Snoozer" come from? It sounds sort of like a stuffed animal name...
Susie: Hee hee, yes I suppose it does sound like an uglydoll or something. Snoozer was my childhood nickname - I wish I had something more exciting to say about it, but when you have a name as long and difficult to spell as mine, you need a simple alias. Sometimes I'll be playing and someone in the crowd will yell "snooooozer" and it just sounds so dumb, I wish I picked a better name sometimes, but when it comes down to it, it really is perfect for what I'm doing musically.
I like the name! And it DOES sound like an uglydoll name... do you have any of the dolls? There is a three-eyed "Cinko" doll in our house currently...
Susie: Is that the one with the weird, gross chest hair? I got my little brother a "Jeero" once, but I'm more the peg-leg island type, cute stuff over there! Check it out: http://www.peg-legstudio.com/island/ -- I captured purrdy the tiger kitten!
