What should I do BEFORE I look for piano lessons
Before you look for piano lessons online you should sit down and figure out exactly what kind of lessons you are looking for. Are you just starting piano? You will probably want beginner piano lessons then. What kind of lessons are you interested in? Piano teachers specialize in various styles including jazz piano, blues piano lessons, classical piano, and even gospel piano lessons. Some teachers also teach in groups, which can sometimes be cheaper but you may want to spend the extra for private piano lessons because your skill level and ability will differ from the group.

There are many online piano lessons often being advertised on the internet. For the most part these are a waste of time... the information that they offer can be found in books in any library (unless, of course, they are FREE online piano lessons). Expect to pay an hourly rate for private piano lessons, or in some cases a fee per session. Rates for piano lessons vary widely depending on skill level, the type of music, and location. It is always best to find a good piano teacher that charges a moderate amount, than to find one who can't help you but charges a low rate.
