Wolf Eyes Burned Mind (CD)
Burned Mind. That title is perty accurate there to describe the feeling you get when listening to this Wolf Eyes CD. Don't get me wrong, I have no qualms with experimental noise. But wow, that first track "Dead In A Boat" is nothing but squelching feedback, and the going don't get any more good after that. Nightmarish screaming amidst airplane engine like electronic squalls makes up a good portion of the disc. Melody, what melody? Chords, what chords? Even beats... what beats? Excuse me, I would like a little substance with my bile, thanks. Occasionally, there are glimmers of interesting things, sorta Nine Inch Nails meets Sonic Youth type of musings. But for the most part there's no let up on the gas pedal. This electronica freakshow curiosity is simply that...a freakin' freakshow of sounds.
